As with every morning I logged onto Facebook and was presented with the usual array of group invitations (and as usual declined almost all); however one group completely threw me - Tories for Obama. I’ll admit, I’ve met a few young conservatives who support Obama (although when you probe them they couldn’t actually tell you the first thing about his policies), but still, how can any conservative reconcile their own political beliefs and values with those of Obama?
The mind boggles.

Why ought Tories not support Obama, in your view? Where’s the putative clash between Conservative values and Obama’s?

Well I’d start with the fact Obama’s incredibly left-wing.

And how many of those same Tories, after being being probed, could list McCain’s policies? I think the numbers would be similar. And more importantly, how faithfully has the Republican Party stuck to its own core polices and principals during the past 8 years?

Very small minded opinion and thinking! Shane - I see myself as a British Conservative, but no way would I back or support John McCain, as I have always make clear, I have followed, supported and fully backed Barack Obama since 2001, read both his books when first released which Barack signed for me and have all his major speeches on DVD. I don’t think that qualifies as not knowing what he stands for!!
